Mexico will halt tariff changes on US truck deal

MEXICO CITY | Mon Jan 10, 2011 3:16pm EST

Jan 10 (Reuters) – Mexico said on Monday it will stop rotating a list of U.S. products subject to retaliatory tariffs as a response to a new U.S. proposal to allow Mexican trucks to circulate on U.S. roads, the first step in ending a long-running trade dispute.

Economy Minister Bruno Ferrari told a news conference the existing list of goods, which includes U.S. pork exports, will remain in place without changes until a full agreement is reached between the trade partners. U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said the effect of the tariffs has been estimated around $2 billion in commercial losses. (Reporting by Tomas Sarmiento and Mica Rosenberg; Editing by Eric Beech)

i have seen these ragged trucks from mexico. i sure hope the us government makes mexico comply with the exact same safety and HOS standards that we have to follow. either way, this will take jobs away from americans and into the hands of the mexicans wo will do the same job but alot cheaper. KEEP THE MEXICAN TRUCKS OUT!!!
